This is sort of one of those questions where our opinions should not matter. If you like the bag, buy it. I think it is very ugly, but then again I am not you, you should buy it if you want it.
Nope, its good to have a big durable backpack that won't rip after a month of use. I would totally get a backpack like that if I was required to carry around big books or something.
