It's school but if your dead set on wearing a suit then I think you should not wear the tie and that you should unbutton the top.
If you live in America, do NOT wear a suit and a tie to school. Your reputation will be ruined for life. The guy who wore a tie to school on the first day. No offense..
You are going to school, I don't think anybody is going to be that done up... but if you really insist then wear the tie.
I wouldn't recommend wearing a suit sense it's school and most people will dress casual. But if you insist upon it, wearing a tie makes it even more formal. So may not be the best idea.
